After many holiday delays I'm finally getting back on track with the Super Bomarc kit.
Thought I would do this thread to let all of you know how it's going.

Because of the many cuts that need to be made I have done this kit a little different. The 1st thing that I did was cut out all the templates, position them on the tubes and make the marks. Then I applied sanding sealer (fill-n-finish) to all the nose cones and fin sections and sanded.

Now comes the fun part. I cut 2 sections very carefully out of the main body tube (need to keep the cutouts), and cut the conduit tube length wise in half, this has to be as close to half as possible for later use - which means that I couldn't make any stray cuts. I then had to cut the 2 small nose cones in half from tip to rear - this was done pretty easily with a hobby knife. I then gently sanded the conduit sections and nosecone pieces to make sure that they were level.

Now comes the engine mount. Unlike most kits where you have 2 or more round centering rings with this kit you have 2 round and 2 with a flat top.
You have to stager the centering rings 1 round, 1 flat, then round again, the last is the flat. In order to get the flat centering rings inline with each other and the openings of the main body tube I installed the 1st 3 rings and then inserted the engine tube into the main body tube. At this point I slid the last ring into place and glued it in - leaving the engine mount in the main tube.
After the rings were dry, here comes my OOPS, as I was getting ready to glue the engine mount into place Mark realized that I had for gotten the engine hook ( this is our way of engine retention as the kit doesn't come with a engine hook so it is up to the builder how they want to retain the engine.) So this is where I go HELP. He got the engine hook installed for me with out having to tear apart or redo the engine mount. The engine mount was now glued into place.

I now assembled the fins and rudder, once these were dry I gently sanded the opening in the main body tube so that all was level and attached the fins and rudder.

That is where I'm currently at ....... More to come.

In the mean time here is some pictures of my build.
